FES Benin
In Benin, the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung implements, on a yearly basis, a number of activities in collaboration with its partners, namely the media professional associations, civil society organisations, trade union bodies, women associations and various other institutions. The purpose of the FES programmes is to support the partners’ efforts towards:
- Consolidating freedom of expression and capacity-building of media organisations and professionals in the conduct of independent investigations in the social, political and economic fields;
- Capacity-building of civil society organisations to strengthen their mediating role between the populations and political decision makers, with particular reference to the topics concerning the implementation of the Cotonou Agreement covering the partnership between the African, Caribbean and Pacific countries (ACP) and the European Union (EU).
- Establishing and consolidating a culture of responsible trade unionism that protects the workers’ interests while taking into consideration the modern days’ socio-economic challenges.
- Promoting women’s leadership within the media, civil society organisations, trade unions, political parties and enterprises.
